Moving into the Living room and/or Family room
This is where you relax and recharge or gather with friends and family, so let’s ensure the Qi here flows well and is harmonious to good relationships and your own well-being. Take note of the arrangement and contents of this room. Everything matters. And yes, – NO clutter. Clutter in the living room will literally suffocate your good times and relationships.
Once you’ve cleared the clutter, here’s the feng shui checklist for this room:
- Arrange the furniture in one cohesive setting. Place sofas or seating facing each other as far as possible, so its easy to converse and interact. When you must look sideways to talk energy gets disrupted and conversations get choppy.
- Try to get a coffee table with smooth or rounded edges. Round or oval coffee tables are a great idea. Or just soften the edges with a table cover.
A crystal globe or ball in the center of the coffee table helps conversations flow better.
- Nice leafy plants are good here. No cacti please.
- Keep the artwork happy and uplifting.
- Lamp lighting is good feng shui for this area. It softens the mood and makes people more amiable. Overhead lights tend to create too much yang energy. So, if you’re having a big party, go ahead and turn on the ceiling lights. Or you could put dimmers on all your overhead lights, to be able to control the lighting according to the company and mood.
